About Me
I was born and raised in Central Ohio, USA. I am a mother of 4 wonderful children, 2 boys and 2 girls, ages 25, 22, 20, and 18. I am Naani, to a 4 year old grandson! My life partner is Roy and he has 3 amazing boys, ages 16, 15, and 13.
I started paper scrapbooking in 1999, but it didn't last long, I found it expensive and hard to manage the collection of supplies and layouts when using a dining table to create, so I stopped sometime in 2000. I picked up digital scrapbooking in 2006, on a forum on the parenting site I was visiting daily. I also began designing professionally for Elemental Scraps and PickleBerryPop and a few other shops, but went on hiatus during a divorce and then again during my late adult college years. You may have seen me in other forums as rachelbrein or scarlettcharm.
I love scrapbooking. It serves 2 purposes for me. Creative outlet and preserving the random and poignant moments of my life.

Digital Scrapbook LayoutDescription
On the first day of school, I always draw a little heart on my kids palms with a sharpie, then if they get nervous or homesick, they'll know I'm with them.

I could have gotten it from that book actually...we used to read it to our preschool classes every year....but I haven't read it in years!
Look up the book "The Kissing Hand" It has the same idea.
I love this idea-- and the page! >3
what a wonderful way to comfort them, Rachel!
Love the layout and the title. And your story is precious! *heart*
also...lol, you'll notice I have 4 children, at the time this photo was taken, Seth was starting middle school, and "didn't need a heart..." I loved his independence though it teared me up.
I am also a preschool teacher, so I know first hand how a "first day" can be....they mostly just really miss normalcy and their family...I tried to come up with a way to ease their anxiety!
Such a great story! With an amazing layout to go with it!
