Description

This is the last Apprenticeship Page for Leonardo Da Vinci.

This is a painting by Andrea Del Verrocchio who titled this painting the Baptism of Christ by Saint John. It was common practice to allow the young apprentices to paint a small portion of the larger paintings. Young Leonardo painted the two little angels at bottom left. You can clearly see a difference in styles between the angels and the rest of the figures in the painting.

Leonardos style is such a contrast to the rest of the painting. So much so that Del Verrocchio threatened to never paint again because the young Leonardo was clearly a better painter than the master!!
