About Me
New to Digital Scrapbooking, just started in 2019, want to make a record of family stories before my mother passes away. My dad died in 2016. I currently live in Canada but was born and raised in New Zealand, and emigrated to Canada upon marrying my Canadian spouse. Home Country - lets see - New Zealand or Canada? Which to choose? Most of my photos will be from NZ, but any pics of my son will be from Canada. MY IP Address will say that I am in Canada which is fine. My mother and sister are still back in NZ so I will make my home country as NZ for now. For Facebook, I dont check it every day - I am not addicted to FB, and I use a different name for privacy. My image is myself as a child - aged about 2 or 3 years old

Digital Scrapbook LayoutDescription
Most of you will know that I am NOT a flowery or frilly person at all. I avoid using flowers on my layouts as much as I possibly can.
But this is May and one of the challenges for this month is Spring. Usually Spring means Flowers. Flowers for me would normally mean my favourites - tulips. But I decided that perhaps we need a break from Tulips this year. LOL
I found another spring flower we can celebrate.
CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!!
I am sure that we have all heard of the massive crowds that usually visit Japan in April to see the Cherry Blossom trees in bloom every year. At least, they did before a certain virus showed up!!
I have now discovered that some parks in Toronto, Canada (the city where I live) also have cherry blossom trees so it was pretty easy to find some photos and videos.
High Park in West Toronto is our equivalent of Central Park in NYC. It is huge, covers several acres, has at least one large pond and several sports fields. When my son was younger, (we are talking well over 10 years ago now), he and I loved coming to High Park so he could play on the large adventure playground.
Because we always came to the park only during the summer, I never saw or heard anything about the Cherry Blossom trees in High Park. So I have chosen to fix this over sight.
There are several other parks in Toronto that also have cherry blossom trees. One of these is Trinity Bellwoods Park, also in west Toronto, but much closer to downtown.
Thanks to the Pandemic and also to Toronto currently being under a Stay-at-Home order, the cherry blossom trees in High Park have been fenced off to stop the large crowds. Viewers are encouraged to watch the online VIRTUAL webcams of the buds growing and blooming.
The park is still open for exercise, walking, bike riding etc, but NO LARGE gatherings are permitted.
As of today - 8 May 2021 - the blossoms have all pretty much fallen from the trees. It is now the end of the season. But there are a number of videos on youtube that you can go back and watch.
I will list a few up to date links below for details on the parks and the stay-at-home order.

Beautiful page Robynne. Thank you for stepping out of your usual subject matter to play along!
It has been several years since I've ventured over to High Park for the cherry blossoms. I usually wait patiently for our own lilacs to bloom! lol
