About Me
New to Digital Scrapbooking, just started in 2019, want to make a record of family stories before my mother passes away. My dad died in 2016. I currently live in Canada but was born and raised in New Zealand, and emigrated to Canada upon marrying my Canadian spouse. Home Country - lets see - New Zealand or Canada? Which to choose? Most of my photos will be from NZ, but any pics of my son will be from Canada. MY IP Address will say that I am in Canada which is fine. My mother and sister are still back in NZ so I will make my home country as NZ for now. For Facebook, I dont check it every day - I am not addicted to FB, and I use a different name for privacy. My image is myself as a child - aged about 2 or 3 years old

Leonardo da Vinci was raised by his mother Caterina in the Tuscan village of Anchiano until he was about 5 years old. The boy was then brought to the nearby town of Vinci to live with his fathers family and to be educated.
Ser Piero Vinci spent a good amount of his time working in Florence as a Notary, so Leonardo was pretty much raised by his grandfather Antonio and his paternal uncle Francesco. Because he was illegitimate, Leonardo would not be permitted to become a Notary like his father. But that was not a problem since Leonardo's talents lay in a different direction.
Upon his arrival in Vinci from the age of 5 years old, Leonardo would have had tutors to teach him reading, writing, Latin, Arithmetic, and possibly some Geometry. Leonardo appears to have taught himself how to play the Lyre to go with his lovely singing voice. And lastly Leonardo also had a huge inborn talent for drawing and painting as he observed the natural world around him.

Lo Scheggia - aka the Splinter - was actually a maker of luxury furniture. His real name was Giovanni ser Giovanni Guidi. Lo Scheggia would paint the "cartoons" on the undersides of the furniture. Many of these "Cartoons" showed everyday life in Florence.
