About Me
New to Digital Scrapbooking, just started in 2019, want to make a record of family stories before my mother passes away. My dad died in 2016. I currently live in Canada but was born and raised in New Zealand, and emigrated to Canada upon marrying my Canadian spouse. Home Country - lets see - New Zealand or Canada? Which to choose? Most of my photos will be from NZ, but any pics of my son will be from Canada. MY IP Address will say that I am in Canada which is fine. My mother and sister are still back in NZ so I will make my home country as NZ for now. For Facebook, I dont check it every day - I am not addicted to FB, and I use a different name for privacy. My image is myself as a child - aged about 2 or 3 years old

Digital Scrapbook LayoutDescription
I have not been shy about who my most favourite designer is from the first day I came to DigitalScrapbook.com and discovered her Reminisce Bundle. That is of course Jessica Dunn. And I have seldom been disappointed by any of the bundles she produces each month.
For the September 2020 Life Begins Challenge we have to choose one designer and make a layout featuring only their work. So it was no problem for me to choose Jessica and her Reminisce Bundle. The only question was, what subject should I choose? Something new.
Well I have recently discovered a new series of books that I am currently reading and enjoying very much. I wondered why I had not seen these books before, and when I saw the American covers, I knew why. I had no idea, just how much influence the covers have when I am choosing which books to buy.
The American covers for the Daevabad trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty, are quite frankly, blah and boring. Sure they are colourful, but there was nothing about them that would convince me to pick them. And sadly, because I live in Canada, these blah covers are the only ones available to me. So I never bothered to look at them.
But this year I began seeing some gorgeous new covers for a series of books I was unfamiliar with, all over Booktube. If you don't know what Booktube is, those are all the content providers on Youtube whose channels are mostly devoted to books. Anyway, I began seeing these gorgeous new covers for a series of books I knew nothing about.
But when I went looking for these books on Kobo, all I was getting were these bland blah horrible book covers that I refused to purchase. It took me a while to learn that the gorgeous new covers I was seeing on booktube, are what is know as "International" covers. The covers for the books sold OUTSIDE of North America.
So even though MY copies of these books have the blah boring covers, I have now purchased them, but I only ever use the international covers online. I will never ever use the boring American covers!!
I am currently still reading Book 1, but the whole series looks so cool. It is a historical fantasy series set in the middle east in the 1800s, after the Napoleonic wars.
Anyway. Enough about books. Getting back to Jessica, when I first began posting here at DigitalScrapbook.com, one of the very first Bundles that I fell in love with was Jessica's Reminisce bundle. On my profile this is my most often used Bundle. The gold paper, the white mask and the gold frame in this layout are all from the Reminisce Bundle.
The black border is my most favourite Border designed by Jessica. This comes from the Delightful Days Kit which is part of the February 2019 Good Life Bundle.
This Book cover is from Kobo. It is of course the International Cover for Book 3 in this trilogy.
The Books in this Daevabad series, FYI, are - The City of Brass, the Kingdom of Copper and the Empire of Gold. By S. A. Chakraborty.
Apologies for the very LONG description.
