About Me
New to Digital Scrapbooking, just started in 2019, want to make a record of family stories before my mother passes away. My dad died in 2016. I currently live in Canada but was born and raised in New Zealand, and emigrated to Canada upon marrying my Canadian spouse. Home Country - lets see - New Zealand or Canada? Which to choose? Most of my photos will be from NZ, but any pics of my son will be from Canada. MY IP Address will say that I am in Canada which is fine. My mother and sister are still back in NZ so I will make my home country as NZ for now. For Facebook, I dont check it every day - I am not addicted to FB, and I use a different name for privacy. My image is myself as a child - aged about 2 or 3 years old

New Zealand.
My Home country where I was born and raised and lived for the first 30+ years of my life.
I was 36 years old when I got married and left NZ and that was 20 years ago. I have not been back - not even to visit. Mostly because the return airfares are just so expensive.
Now I live in Canada. I consider Canada to be a much bigger version of NZ, but it looks every bit as good as NZ. Both countries have plains, mountains, beaches, lakes, all 4 seasons and somewhat similar cultures.
The main picture is of Mt Cook, the highest Mountain in NZ. The Lake is Lake Pukaki. The road up the side of the lake is 26 miles long - between the Mt Cook National Park Visitor centre (and Hotel) and the town of Twizel in the Mackenzie Country. There was quite a lot of LOTR filming done in the Mackenzie country back around the year 2000.
NZ has a very active writing culture, but most of the books are fictional. Those that are non fiction tend to be travel books. Very few Kiwis from New Zealand end up writing their own memoirs or biographies.
As a result, I have included 2 books from NZ on this layout. One fiction and one non-fiction.
The River Rules my life is the first in a series of Memoirs written by Mona Anderson back in the 1960s, where she describes what life was like living on a remote high country sheep station in the Southern Alps. The Wilberforce river regularly flooded and when it was in flood, noone could enter or leave the station until the river calmed down. This is one of my most favourite Kiwi Biographies of all time.
The Luminaries is a Novel published in 2013 about what happens in NZ if several stars were to be in an alignment with each other. This Novel won the Man Booker Prize in 2014.

Beautiful Robynne!
Your main picture is gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing and playing along, Robynne. NZ really is a gem and the fact that it is so under wraps due to its remoteness might just keep it that way a bit longer. It must be hard not to go home for such a long time; when QLDers are told they're tough, now look at you...
