About Me
I discovered digital scrapbooking through a magazine at my dentist's office when my girls were toddlers. I downloaded GIMP shortly thereafter, and the rest is history. My teenagers aren't nearly as cute to scrap now as they were then - but I still love documenting who we are as a family. And hey, occasionally now my layouts don't even include my kids :P
I sometimes even get to use the skills I learned digital scrapbooking for my work (I do communications for a nonprofit ministry that provides educational opportunities for kids in Guatemala)
Besides digital scrapbooking, I enjoy geocaching, hiking, x-country skiing, hanging around with international students, reading, stewarding a little free library, and cheering on my family at their many races . . .
Oh, and I'm Canadian, eh? We put two Ls in journalling and a U in colour on purpose :)

Journalling: How can a few photos really capture a month in which the world seemed to go crazy? And yet, our own month looks more like a staycation than a pandemic lockdown. Kevin & Kaisa had a spring break trip planned to check out UOttawa, and after that the two of us were going to go to Seattle to celebrate his mom & dad's 50th Anniversary with all of the brothers. Both got cancelled, of course, as the world seemed to shut down on my birthday weekend (my birthday dinner was our last meal out). Kevin & I both shifted to working from home, and we monitored the news about Vancouver (Talia decided to stay at Carey) and about the US (we finally convinced my parents that they really did need to come home right now). But the planned holidays meant that during these first crazy days, we had extra time for "social distancing" hikes - although what was acceptable changed daily, if not hourly. (For the first week, we still took a neighbour along hiking and Kaisa still had friends over.) There was such a contrast between the peaceful hikes and the ever more disconcerting stories on the news. We felt blessed to be here, knowing that around the world, people's lives were, quite literally, falling apart. The hikes quickly became a sanity break, a chance to refocus, and a time to pray for friends near and far and for all that is happening in our world.

Thanks, Maddie and Burico. Maddie, the journalling is actually an expansion of a few sentences I had added to my "Month in Photos" facebook album, when I realized that the photos I had really didn't give any indication of the craziness that was happening in the world
I love the balance between your journalling and the photos!
very beautiful!
