Photoshop Elements

My husband bought me Photoshop Elements for an early Christmas present! I love it but I can't save my layouts as a JPEG, whats with that? What do you all do with your program?

Is this the newest version? I have the 2019, and I’ve had no trouble saving the layouts as jpeg.

yes, this is PE 2022

I have PE 2019, and have no problem with saving as jpg. Is this the first PE you have been using, or are you familiar with earlier versions of the program?

This is the first time I have used PE

In my version you save as jpg by choosing: File - Save as - and then you choose jpg in the curtain beneath the filename. But I don't know if it is the same in your PE.

Thank you for the advise. I figured it out and am using PE to it's fullest. I got a new PC for Christmas too!

A new PC - lucky you, Cheryl. How do you like Elements? I'm mulling over whether or now I should get it. I have CS6 and it is old. There's so much that Adobe has introduced in both programs and I wonder if I'm missing out on some of the simplicity and features that they've incorporated.

I really love my PC and Elements! You should get it~

Are you flattening the file before saving?

Thanks for replying, #Cheryl. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it.

.... I'm leaning that way since I've heard good things.

I've always had Photoshop Elements and really love it, but lately I have wondered if I should upgrade to full Photoshop.

Michelle, I would think that would be a good idea if you've outgrown Elements. KWIM?

I've used Elements 13 and 15, almost exclusively for the last few years. As a hobbyist there isn't much that you need that isn't offered. Sometimes I do have to find workarounds but youtube is an excellent resource. I keep PhotosopCS2 on my computers for the random things that Elements can't do for me which is usually more tied to creation rather than layouts and photo editing.

If you're getting more into creating it might be time to upgrade smiley

You may want to save as a tiff file rather than a PSD file (which is the one that pops up automatically if you are using save as). If you do you can alter your work at any time and and it shows you what's there. With a PHD save you get a little icon. A tiff file wont open Elements like a click on a PSDfile will, you have to open a tiff like a jpeg. I save my work both as a tiff file and a jpeg.

I use Photoshop Elements 15 and, as an amateur designer, there is probably more in the program than I will ever learn! The only extra thing that would be handy for me is Photoshop's ability to check for gamut issues (whether the image will print in the same colours as what I see on my screen). I'm simply not in a financial position to pay for the full Photoshop every month, so I'm sticking with PSE. I may upgrade to a later version of PSE some time in the future, but for now, version 15 has plenty of power for me.

@Robyn Denton: You might find an older version of PS on gumtree or ebay. I saw a version 5 for the 2nd time at the same op shop the other day. smiley
