Oct 2016 Blog Train - Working

October's theme is School of Art, suggestions for this include drama, music, art, etc, particularly in a school setting.

This is the same palette from September. After discussion I felt that if we weren't going to have a very different palette it didn't make much sense to change it just a little bit. So everything will coordinate with items from September's blog train.

Please read the new guidelines before finishing your contribution.

Feel free to pin inspiration to our Pinterest board. If you'd like to be added to the board, please leave me a comment here (make sure you are following the board, or else I can't add you).

I love your ability to make executive decisions, Marisa!

PS. As an art teacher, this is right up my alley..no matter what the color scheme is!

I absolutely LOVE this idea, especially since last month I focused on dance, and this month I'll focus on theatre, and they will all work together (totally for selfish reasons- my son is a dancer/singer/theatre kid lol).

As I said in the September thread, I'm not using either September or October's theme (just the palette), and I've been working on lots of papers, and trying lots of techniques that are new to me. No previews yet, but I have done about 70 papers so far, and I'm nowhere near finished yet! I've even been making pattern templates, using the graphics from Elements 11, and have been experimenting with filters in Elements, and all the different settings in FotoSketcher. I'm having so much fun that you might end up with 100-120 papers in all!

I haven't decided if I'll release them all in September, all in October, or spread them over the two months...

EDIT: My part has mushroomed, expanding into 34 kits with over 300 papers (oops!)

ANOTHER EDIT: I posted all the kits in September, will do so again in October, and they're all up on my freebie thread as well, so there's plenty of time to download, if you have a slower download speed, or download limits.

I'm on a designing roll... smiley

i love those tina!

Tina, your journal cards are so pretty!

Translation into English:

Erika, to make a blog train about Mandalas or Zentangle Art it's very difficult from my point of view: if making just a doodle is difficult -at least for me- imagine to make a mandala or zentagle!. I would instead use doodles...here at Pixelscrapper there are many to choose. It is more, I think there are mandalas, so you can search for "doodle" or "mandala", and I think that not long ago there was made a very hippy blog train full of mandalas though I can't remember the name. I hope to help you and just in case I will translate it into English so that the rest of people could inform you or tell you more about it...

Sonia, that blog train was Crafty Evening from January 2016. There are a number of new ones that also include some zentagle-y designs, too.

Muchas gracias, cariños desde Guatemala smiley

Thank you so much Erin!

Oh, I really like the "School of Art" theme!
And the colors are great for just about anything.
I have never created my own digital stuff, but I LOVE digital scrapbooking.
And seeing the art created by others.
Maybe some day I'll get the nerve to do my own creations!
But for now, I love this site.

On the school of art theme, what about lesser known band or orchestra instruments-----like bass clarinet, percussion, harps, etc.
A lot of times if there is a kit about school music, it's the usual flute, clarinet, cello, and sometimes piano, etc.

Dancing is always beautiful, and ballet is a popular one.
What about tap, ballroom, and latin dancing----like salsa, merengue, paso doble, etc.----a little spicy and rich in culture.

Or, what about drama costumes?
For example, like period costume clothing----Jane Eyre, Gone With the Wind, Little Women......or even 50's, 80's, or earlier? Or something like that?

Just throwing ideas out there!
I have a lot of ideas, but not much knowledge on how to bring them to life.

I know whatever you all come up with will be awesome, it always is!

But you are more than welcome to use my ideas!

Thank you for all the work you put into your creations, they are so very beautiful and appreciated!!!!! smiley

Lisel- My contribution for the September train is all about dance- tap dance, to be specific! smiley October will be musical theatre!

Oh my!!

Laurel!! I will love it because I sing and act in a musical theatre group here in Spain!! We made "Mamma Mia" and "Jesucristo Superstar", and now we are working with "Fame" and probably make the show on October!! smiley smiley

Sonia- Yay! At least one other person besides myself will use it lol! My son works in musical theatre professionally here in Chicago. Break a leg in "Fame!"

Lol! Here in Spain we use another idiom, which is "¡Mucha mierda!". Thank you and I envy your son;) because I am not professional!

Oh, I didn't see it, Laurel! Awesome! Thank you!

Ohhhh! Love the theme!!! smiley!

The same palette?? This one will be rough for me again. smiley I suppose that's where we're most creative though - when we don't find the colors or theme inspiring!!

ETA: I find the theme inspiring, these colors just kill me. smiley

Here is my contribution:

Great set Sonia!

QUOTE: I think that not long ago there was made a very hippy blog train full of mandalas though I can't remember the name

Sonia, from memory, I think the train you were referring to might have been Bohemian Breeze, from September 2015

Thank you Erin and Robyn! I will inform Erika who doesn't speak English!

Nice colors!

Well, I am going to attempt this another time, as I am frustrated with folks here telling me they are always having trouble with my digi content, and sometimes it feels like I am posting freebies for nothing.
I have not heard any problems from the people at my member cafe, nor from my newsletter members, so I have no idea why PS folks are finding it so hard.
I was contacted a couple days ago privately from someone here responding to the comment I left here https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/comment/374024#comment-374024 to tell me that quote,

"I find your website very confusing.
I don't know if it is just because I haven't taken the time to look at it properly, but it overwhelmed me a bit
and so I just closed it down and didn't look at everything."

Well, I certainly don't mind feedback and suggestions, as a matter of fact I encourage it, I wrote this person back and thanked them for contacting me, and then asked if they could elaborate at all with a bit more specifics so I could actually find ways to fix it, and so far have heard nothing back. I hope that is only because they have not had time yet, but experience often tells me, while people are generally quick to critique or complain, they often don't have any suggestions for you.

Anyway, I am sure some of you notice I am more than frustrated lately, and I am sorry, but if you have any real feedback, suggestions, or help for me, I would gladly listen and appreciate it. I am struggling a lot lately with financial issues, as well as pc and health issues, and of course would appreciate any help figuring out how to make things better.

I will try to add a direct link to the October BT kit, but I will be also placing this Halloween kit in my store for sale, so hopefully no one will share the link outside of PS.....

Angela,
I didn't find your blog confusing to navigate, but perhaps the person's frustrations lies in the fact that at the top of your blog it says to click here for freebies, and it leads the person to Inky. Usually when a blog says that, people assume they are being led to your design freebies. Also, the FB Fan thing says you'll get a kit, but when you click on the "Get UR Freebie" or whatever it says on FB, it brings you to some advertisement, not a download of a kit.

Just my observations so you have a little insight!

Thank you for the great steampunk freebies!

Laurel, thank you for that.... I will go look now at the problem...
and the Inky thing used to work, I will have to check

I also don't always send folks to my blog for freebies, sometimes I send them to the new store now.

OK, the Inky you were talking about is a link to a site with tons of freebies, (not my site), I did not see anything bogus.
The FB link I adjusted the wording on, and removed the app in the FB page, because it does not work anymore, (I guess FB discontinued it)

If you, or anyone else sees something confusing please let me know.
smiley

As I said, I might stop using that blog for blog trains etc... I have been loading freebies into my store lately

I just heard from the other lady, she is on the other side of the universe lol, and her time zones and ours collide lol.
Anyhow, her issues were mostly internet related, rather than website related, altho I did get some insight on how to make that blog better.

These are gorgeous! So delicate and makes me want to dance...lol

I am going to join in this! I cannot believe I have been coming here for over a year, even have a subscription and never joined the forums!

What do you think? It reminds me of my time in art school!! smiley
