Watching Netflix?

Our Crime Dramas thread seems to be going strong, so I thought I might be fun to see what people are streaming more generally on Netflix.

Jordan and I recently enjoyed watching Britain's Best Home and right now we're weirdly into Terrace House, which is a Japanese reality show about six people who live in a house together. I say weirdly because we would never watch a show like this if it was set in America, but apparently we'll watch it if it's set in Japan. I'm curious how people think it compares to a similar style show from America. To me it seems much sweeter and less dramatic than what I imagine American shows to be like. Also they cut to a different group of people who will just comment on what's happening in the show. Which I like. Although they currently seem to be giving a pass to this one girl who we think is very annoying. So we enjoy talking back to the TV smiley

What are you watching?

Anne with an E and Heartland. smiley

We have sling right now with only ONE add on... Lifetime, Hallmark... hahaha and then we have Amazon Prime.
I'm thinking of adding a couple monthly subscription type channels... for the winter when we're stuck inside more!

@Tammy: I've heard that Anne with an E is really good. Guess I need add it to the must see list. smiley

I'm watching 'Sharp Objects' on Hulu. And even though it's been around a while, I'm watching 'Call the Midwives' on Netflix. The 2nd season of 'Ozark' is coming soon (can't wait - highly recommended). The trailer for 'Maniac' looks really good - It's coming out soon.

@Karen I love Call the Midwife, actually intending on getting round to reading the books at some point.

I don't know so much about Netflix but currently my husband and I are watching Sherlock, Handmaid's Tale and Wentworth. We are also waiting for Chicago fire to begin. I also really enjoy Heartland, not so much my husbands thing, looking forward to the new series.

Loved Call the Midwife!! smiley

On netflix we have watched many shows Vampire Diaries is one we have finished, Grays Anatomy I started, I have watched Pretty Little Liars, and Many other Anime shows too I love it. My favorite I can not find its called Hana Kimi i think is its spelling. I wish to have more time for netflix but do not at this time.

I also love shadowhunters and its not on netflix just on freeform. I am a wierd person lol.

I´m addicted to the mini-documentary series from Netflix, Explained. Some of them are very weird, others have a very nice sum up on issues that are either polemical or hard to understand.

I´m also watching Anne with an E and it´s too good. I will for sure miss it when it´s over.

Before this, I finished season 02 from Ultimate Beastmaster, that it´s a kind-of NF America Ninja Warrior, with Stallone on the production. I watch the Brazilian-commented version, that seemed to me a bit better than the international commentary (I don´t know how fun are the american commentarists), though it´s meh sometimes. And Before that the season 2 for 3% and season 9 of RuPauls Drag Race.... A very ecletic list, I guess...

Lorien,

I love American Ninja Warrior and its something I record every week. I have a kiddo that is wonderfully in football so with this I stay busy and miss lots of my great shows... Although, he is 1000% worth it I love my kiddo with all my heart n soul. We also like the anime things on there his favorite not sure if its on netflix is black butler. I love one that isn't on nexflix called hana kimi i think is the spelling... Hugz Leann

Anne with an E, first season was tops, & so was the 2nd, but my personal opinion was that they went just a tad mad with Anne's monologues & ramblings, & please watch 'Good Behaviour' on Acorn, I think, ... a bit racy here & there, but new & refreshing concept. Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey is the lead. Just finished watching season 1...liked it a lot!

Watching Endeavour season 3:4...

I have watched season 1 & 2 of Anne with an E. They were one of my favourite series of books growing up and find this series is not really true to the books. So while I am enjoying it I am also a bit disappointed. I have watched the whole series of Vampire diaries which I enjoyed. I love Outlander on netflix and am looking forward to the new season coming soon. I also enjoy Brooklyn 99, Suits, Dr Who, shadowhunters and heaps of other style of shows. If the storyline and characters are good I can get into it and binge watch while I am scrapbooking or doing other activities. I'll have to check out some of the other suggestions and see if we have them in Australia.

Ive watched a wide range of stuff on netflix. I love outlander and call the midwife. Ive just finished watching Mako Mermaids and H2O just add water (I started watching them with my dtr and kinda got hooked). My husband and I have been slowy making our way through all the Star trek series.
Really enjoyed Travelers and Mind Hunter. Cant wait for the next seasons to come out.

My sister-in-law is moving in with us, so that seems like a great time to finally watch Anne With An E. smiley

I LOVE Anne with an E, and can't wait till season three!! Also looking fw to the new batch of horror movies and shows they are getting for Halloween!!

We watched Netflix all last winter and this summer but with the new season upon us we are watching CBC mainly .... Murdoch Mysteries, Frankie Drake Mysteries, Still Standing with Johnny Harris, Baroness Von Sketch, The Great Canadian Baking show, Vanity Fair, The Detectives and of course Coronation Street ... been watching it since my eldest was born and that was over 40 years ago

We are still watching Terrace House on Netflix. We have also added in Jack Ryan, which is on Amazon, although I can't say I recommend it. I think we will carry on till the end, but I spend most of my time doodling now and not paying attention. And we have one or two more episodes left of the Great British Baking Show. Love that one!! Although they just sent my favorite person home, so I'm a bit sad.

We're always behind the times and are just now watching Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland. To me, it's every bit as good as 24! We're also watching the second season of Ozark.

Does anyone here watch The haunting of Hill House? It's new on Netflix and I hear some great things about it, but before we start a new show - again - that's not worth watching, I'd like to know more. (Btw, a Dutch actor is playing one of the leading parts - Michiel Huisman - so I could be biased anyway smiley smiley )

We keep seeing that advertised and my sister-in-law and I are disturbed at having to see the scary preview every time we open up Netflix smiley Let me know if it's any good, and how scary it is!

The Haunting of Hill house was GOOD! Creepy scary. And had a good story too. they show the same scene from different actors point of views some times, which was a lil confusing for a minute. And they go back and forth between then and now the entire movie. So if you like movies like that I think you will enjoy this. Some really good jump scares and some blood. I thought it was very good and weird and creepy!!

That's helpful, thank you Varia! I think I'll give it a go after we finish Sense8 (vèry confusing and weird too! smiley Not too fond about it, but I'll finish it anyway).

You are most welcome Marjan!! Enjoy!!

I LOVE Netflix! My favs are Luther (British crime show), Great British baking show, murder in paradise, Dhariba Diaries (reminds a bit of Murdoch but set in India during Colonial times), and The Good Place (pleasantly surprised).

Oh, and there's this murder mystery series sent in Australia in the 1920's . . . . . female lead . . . . I can't think of the name. but even my sons enjoy it.

Your Australian lady detective is Miss Fisher, and one of my favorites!

Anne with an E
Haunting of Hill House

We have Netflix, Amazon and just today signed up for the .99 cent monthly year for Hulu as their Black Friday sales special.

I just finished “The Closer” and really enjoyed all 7 seasons. It is a crime series, laugh out loud funny in some episodes and sobbing in others.

I am anxious to watch Anne with an E that seems to be so popular here.

Oh, Queen of the South and Ozark on Netflix, Homecoming on Amazon Prime Video and Queen America on Facebook Watch. It's fascinating where all these shows stream from! LOL!

When I first started watching Netflix, it was to binge watch "The Blacklist" Season 1 before Season 2 began. Now I'm watching "Longmire". Love it!

Current watching Suits on Netflix, on Season 5 so playing catch up. My to watch list on Netflix is never ending also have the following to watch
The Good Cop
Heartland
The Good Witch
Pretty Little Liars, on Season 2. Struggling to stick with this one
How to get away with murder
The Good Place

Always looking for recommendations though
