Challenge Winners and New Brushes

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 11/30/2012 - 06:54

We had two, month-long challenges finish today, one for Bedouin Nights and one for Boo! Halloween. Congrats to our two winners, who each won 50 bonus download credits to use whenever they'd like. Be sure to check out our challenges for a great chance to win some DC to download some of my new kits! Tomorrow I'll be posting a new challenge to go along with the December Blog Train that's starting.

Riding in a Balloon

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 11/28/2012 - 23:05

I have always wanted to go for a balloon ride. It seemed like a magical thing to do, but I didn't think too seriously about it because it seemed like it would be a long time before we could actually afford it. So it was a little unreal when the travel agent not only offered us a balloon ride at sunrise over Luxor, but also offered a price we could justify. Since the revolution, Egypt has been struggling to bring in the number of tourists they are used to, which is unfortunate for them, but worked in our favor.

Temples of Ancient Egypt

There are few things greater than exploring a place that's really old. And places don't really come much older than in Egypt.

There's a lot of stuff happening and it's hard to keep track of it all. Here are a few reminders for you:

We are still looking for a moderator for the PaintShop Pro forum so that we can open it. Also, we could still use 2 moderators for either the Chit Chat forum or the Digital Scrapbooking Discussion Forum. See here for more details and to apply.

Marisa Bakes: The Christmas Season Begins

By Marisa Lerin Sun, 11/25/2012 - 06:40

While I'm writing this I'm also chatting with my Mom who is trying to support her idea that it's okay for a Christmas tree to be very small. When I was growing up we often had no Christmas tree, or if we were lucky we might have had a Christmas tree that was pathetic enough for Charlie Brown. To be fair, we always traveled at Christmas and were rarely in our house, however depriving your children of Christmas traditions can go one of two ways. You could end up with a child like my sister, whose life doesn't revolve around Christmas decorations.

The Pyramids

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 11/24/2012 - 02:14

Jordan and I flew from Amman to Cairo (about a one hour flight) and spent a couple days there before heading down on the train to Luxor. Thanks to my wonderful sister who works at a Sheraton in the States, Jordan and I were able to get a special rate at Le Meridien which is right next to the pyramids. Check out this view:

Top 10 Photos from Egypt

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 11/22/2012 - 23:41

I'm planning to write a couple posts about our trip to Egypt, to share a few photos and things, but I thought I'd start out by sharing our Top 10 photos from the trip. When Jordan and I spent a year traveling, we took a lot of photos. In order to keep things manageable and easy to share with people, we started picking our Top 10 photos from each location.
