New: Footsteps Bundle

Footsteps Bundle

This bundle is a new release to you, but I made it quite a while ago. I regard it as one of my better flops. I think overall it looks fine, and most people will not regard it as a flop, however the creative process fell flat and I was distinctly uninspired to work with it. You may notice that most of the elements aren't in any of the layouts, because I only just made them so that I could release this bundle.

Several things combined to make this a difficult project for me. First, and I think always most important, is the color palette. I usually start out at the beginning of kit creation feeling the same about my color palette. Obviously, I choose my own color palettes, and I don't intentionally choose one that I dislike. However, on a few occasions, this one included, I have come to actively dread the colors I've picked. It's kind of weird. If you like these colors, enjoy this kit, because I won't be using this color palette again.

Not only did I pick a color scheme I didn't like, but I also decided that I would try and use a minimal style. I think you can probably tell from my usual layouts that this isn't my natural inclination, and while stepping outside your comfort zone is valuable, I think mixed with the fact that I already disliked my colors made things come to pretty quick halt.

Finally, the photos I was trying to scrap in this project came from our trip through Vietnam. And frankly, I didn't really enjoy our time traveling there. We had nice time staying in Hanoi with my family, but once we started traveling down things seemed to conspire against us. It's a strange thing to admit, because I honestly never thought I would actively not like somewhere I visited. Obviously some places are easier to like than others, but in all my travels I'd never actually not liked somewhere. But it was with a giant sigh of relief that I left Vietnam. Every time I look at these photos I mostly just feel relieved that I'm not there.

It seems this project was more or less doomed from the start.

Now that I've finally finished it up and released it to the world, I'm feeling something of a cathartic release. I can see that the pages I made aren't terrible, and I can be glad that I have something to remember those weeks we traveled down the length of Vietnam.

(If you are a Vietnam lover, never fear! I realize that lots of people have a great time there. I do have an actual "Vietnam" bundle, which I used to scrap photos from our time in Hanoi, which will be coming at some point.)

I love the suttle colors and think they would be complimentary to any picture. Like the all the elements.

I think its funny that you don't really like your kit. I however love the colour palette. And the clusters just look fabulous. Can't wait to get them.

I am not usually one for anything but bright colors... but this kit really works! Looking forward on getting some downloads from it!

I have to say at first glance I don't like the colors so much either. I don't usually go for the dull colors. Looking at the way your album turned out though - I think it looks REALLY good! I like the elements I think they remind me of the sandy beach and the name with the sand reminds me of that "Footsteps in the Sand" poem. (I guess its a poem!)

All in all, I say great job!

I think it is a great kit! I love the colors and the elements! I agree that because it is tied to a "not so memorable" time for you that it comes across differently. That happens to me too :-)

No worries! We are always our own worst critic. :) There are some pretty papers in there and some nice elements. Glad you put it up anyway.
