Our New Gallery Wall
Apparently the sun is gone for good, which is fine with me, except that I've been trying to take photos of our new gallery wall and the lighting is bad. But I guess I'll have to make do since the sun may not come out again for a while.
This fall has brought with it a serious sense of nesting around the house. We've passed the year mark here in Corvallis, and are looking into our second year. A second year feels pretty permanent, since the last time I lived in one place longer than two years would be when my family lived in Bolivia. We left when I was 16. Half my life has gone by since then. I'm currently feeling like I want to live here forever. However I should point out that at this point I take forever to be anything longer than two years.
Just in the last couple of weeks we've made some significant changes, finding a couch on Craigslist, hanging a gallery wall, shuffling furniture from one room to the next and hiding what we can in the attic to give all the rooms a bit more breathing room. Overnight our living room went from a place that had minimalist vibes (and not in the good way) to a place which can actually seat more than two people. Also, it's a lot cozier for the current and coming weather.
I love the look of gallery walls and pin pretty much every one I come across on Pinterest. I knew I wanted to make one myself (question: how many gallery walls can one home have?) and then I decided we should do it right now. We went up to Ikea to pick out a bunch of frames and then had the hard decision of choosing which photos to have printed out. We taped papers to the wall first to give us a guide for what we were doing.
And then finally it was time to put the wall up. The final product was definitely worth all the time and effort.
I won't be 100% happy until the pictures reach from floor to ceiling, which is the overindulgent aspect I love about gallery walls. But it's a great start that we can enjoy now, and hopefully add to in the future.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

awesome! :D
Love your unique planning to build a perfect wall of photo memories!
I love gallery walls and yours look lovely. I've been planning to create one for like a year now but haven't really gotten to actually do it. You did a wonderful job with your wall, hope mine turn out even half as nice as yours. :)
Oh, so very beautiful! That was a good idea to plan it first with paper first because that would be a lot of nails.
I love the way you've laid this out! Beautiful wall, and beautiful photos!
Beautiful, love the planning/paper layout!!
I have a great spot for a gallery wall. I love it
love the great variety of frames you have chosen .... great wall
Love the variety of your frames, beautiful job.
LOVE wall galleries, and have many, many of them pinned as well! Just moved this summer, and again it's a temporary location and rental, but SOMEDAY I will do my own! Thanks for sharing.
Very pretty!
Love it! I'm in the process of creating a gallery wall as well.
I have now lived in this house for 12 years, longer than any other. My previous record was 8 years, the average was 5. It has been a surprise that we are here long enough to figure out what this house needs. I'm not a decorator (at all, unfortunately), and it takes way more than 5 years for the house to grow on me enough to get it figured out... I'm going to try a gallery wall. It looks great and uses all those pictures that we take. Great idea!
Love this Marisa! I'm adding your gallery wall to my pinterest board of ideas for when I put a gallery wall of my own together.
That looks awesome! Great job! You managed to walk that fine line between interesting variety and random chaos that is so necessary to make a gallery wall look cohesive.
It looks lovely, enjoy it!
