Summer Update
I have a little life update for you today, as Jordan and I are moving into some new territory in the next couple of months. You may have seen that we recently promoted our favorite intern Thani to Junior Webmaster. He is a very welcome addition to the team, as Jordan will soon be following a dream this fall and enrolling in a master of fine arts program in digital media (but don't worry: he'll still be staying on as DigitalScrapbook.com webmaster!). Jordan will be attending the Digital Arts and New Media program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, which means we'll soon be Californians! We're getting ready to pack things up here in Oregon and move down the coast, where we're looking forward to moving into on-campus family housing at UCSC. I have not been to Santa Cruz, since I make it a point never to visit anywhere before moving there (or at least it always seems to work out that way!), but it sounds like a very beautiful place, with both redwoods and a beach. So I don't expect us to suffer too much. :)
Jordan has taken a long break from his interest in digital art to start up and help me run DigitalScrapbook.com, so I'm very happy that at this point we have the flexibility (and help from Thani) that will allow him to continue on as webmaster while also getting back to something he's had to put to the side for a few years. He has done enough digital art work in the past to earn a full ride for his master's program, and I'm quite excited to see what he gets up to! You can check out his past work here, and don't be put off if computer games seem too technical for you: most of his require pushing the space bar and not much else.
A new location is not the only thing on our horizons. We're also expecting a new member for our family at the end of November! It's a baby! I feel like I should write a bit more about it, since I just spent two paragraphs on Jordan, but I don't know what to say. (Insert feelings of amazement and wonder here.) So we have our hands full of new possibilities and opportunities. We're doing our best not to feel too overwhelmed and to focus instead on all the wonderful blessings that have come our way!
Of course with all these changes on the horizon, we don't want you to think we'll forget about DigitalScrapbook.com! Both Jordan and I are deeply committed to the continued growth and development of DigitalScrapbook.com, and that's not going to be changing any time soon. We may have a few extra things on our plates soon, but we're not going anywhere, and we feel confident that with Thani's help (and of course the ongoing support of our great community) DigitalScrapbook.com is only going to keep getting better!

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

Congratulations on everything that's going on in your lives.
May all the Blessing of the Lord be upon you both and everything you do.

That's so awesome! Can't wait to see layouts of your little one! And that's exciting news about Jordan and your move, too.
Congratulations to you guys, on both accounts! I'm so excited for you!! And we'll practically be neighbors, haha. :-D
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So many new and wonderful things happening!!! I finally made it to Santa Cruz a few years ago and think that if I ever moved back to California, that's exactly where I'd live.
Wishing you all the best!!!!
hooray for all the new and exciting adventures!!! I grew in San Jose CA (just about an hour jaunt over the mountains from Santa Cruz :) make sure you plan a day trip up to Half Moon Bay (amazing views and GREAT food). The tide pools all over the place along the beach are great for little eyes and hands in a couple years, and of course the boardwalk is beautiful all lit up at night :) ah, now I am getting homesick! :P :P
Great news! All of it :D You have a lot on your plate, but I'm sure you are both up to the task(s) ahead. Keep us posted on your progress at school Jordan, I would love to see what else you come up with: just scanned your website briefly and played a game or two (can't play the older ones on my Mac though) - they are very compelling and dark (and a little scary, since I'm all alone in the dark here, haha!).
I wish you both good luck and for you especially Marisa, good health. I hope you are one of the lucky people (like I was) to have a troublesome pregnancy!
Yep, seconding Rose's comment about sleep...and to enable that, if someone reasonably trustworthy offers to babysit for a few hours or make dinner or do some laundry or clean the house so that you can catch a nap, take them up on it!!
Wow; all awesome news; congratulations!
My advice to you both is, get as much sleep as you can, whenever you can, both before and after the new family member arrives!
I love California. I am sure you will love living there as much as I did! Congrats to Jordan on the schooling. and to both of you on the move and most of all on the baby! Very exciting!
Wow! Fantastic news, Marisa!! Congrats to you both--it's going to turn your world upside down with moving and a little one, but it's a wonderful ride! Enjoy it and take lots of photos!
YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT AREA!!! YAY :D
