November 2016 in Photos

I realized near the end of November that I was in a bit of a photo rut, meaning I wasn't taking many photos. I'm remedying that now, challenging myself to take a photo every day, plus we'll be traveling soon and then I won't have to try hard to take photos. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions they use when struggling to photograph daily life? I know sometimes it seems like every day is the same, so finding new photo inspiration can be a challenge. At least I always have my tea cups :)

My big accomplishment this past month was finishing up my Korea pocket album.
I really love the time spent at my craft table working with all the little bits and pieces.

set a timer on your phone to go off every hour and take 3 pictures (I like to change the number up a bit); what are you doing at that moment? lay down what do you see? find something that starts with the same letter as your current activity...i am drinking tea, what can a photograph that starts with d or t? etc...! HAVE FUN! :P

Absolutely LOVE this photo - - - you have a "splash of color " thing going. Would love to see more like this.Great composition, too.

Wow, Marisa, what you've shown us is awesome. I once did a 25 Days of Christmas, taking one photo a day in December. Anything that my eye caught about the day, that made me smile, that inspired me, that I loved, that's what I took a photo of.

I generate challenges for myself. I'm single, live alone, no kids, no pets, and only travel occasionally, so it helps! I'll take a week of "green" photos, a weekend of "cloud" photos, photos in the order of rainbow colors, or a series of photos from different angles. And my plants are always there...It seems to help me to remember that life is about who is around me but it is also about the what and the where that is around me.

I love the top view photos but all the different perspectives are great.

I try to use a different perspective. And, like Susan, use whatever camera I have with me, whether it's my "big" camera or my smartphone!

My best tip to keep my photographer's eye open is to use whatever camera I have with me. The Nikon? Use it. My camera? Use it. Some of my favorite shots for graphic design use come from my phone. Someone said, "The best camera for the job is the one you have with you." We always have our cell phones.

Try setting yourself a theme such as a colour, item, garden, macro etc and go for a walk taking only photos that fit your theme.
